Let me help you...
FIND YOUR SWEDISH ROOTS
The perfect gift for yourself or for someone you love ❤️
Get your very own family tree with your Swedish ancestors dating back to as far as about year 1700! Get the stories, the facts and the pictures from the archives to prove it. Where do you come from?
Many people are curious about their past and want to know more. We watch shows like "Who du you think you are" and hear a lot about DNA genealogy. But without previous experience, it's often hard to know how to do or primarly where to start. And then add to that the fact that there also is a jungle of costly subscriptions and genealogy services to choose from. I have access to all the Swedish census from 1860 and forward and to all kinds of church records from about 1600 and forward. I offer you affordable package deals. What I need from you to get started is a bit of information about the person to begin the research with. That person is your immigrant relative from Sweden. Read more about what information I need from you HERE.

I've always loved a good story
A little about myself...
My name is Ann T Ottestig and I have a been engaged in genealogy as a hobby for about a decade. Sometimes I also give lectures about genealogy, DNA research and old family histories and I have helped others get started with their genealogy for some time now.
In my ordinary day to day work I work as a director of studies in public relations at the Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, where I have worked since 1997.
My work- and research experience from Mid Sweden University, and also experience of working with many different digital search engines, is something that I have a great deal of use of in my genealogy work.

My own interest in genealogy comes from my mother, who was in the genaologu many years before me. I watched her looking for old relatives and facts about the family history on old microfilms in the library. When digitization came (and then also DNA research) I also became interested in a more series way (and I had also grown up and had a family of my own by then).
Since then I have built on my own family tree, but also built my husband's tree, dating back to the 1400s. In recent years, I have focused on our relatives who emigrated to America - emigrant research. Through that research, I have also contacted many of our now living relatives on the other side of the Atlantic. We have relatives in many different parts of the US and it is clear to me now that their paths in the US were very different and that some of that struggled hard in the first years or generations. Read more about one emigrant story from my research HERE.
In my Swedish genealogy research I've found many interesting but tough lives and dramatic and touching stories of ordinary people, but also knights in Scotland many hundreds years ago. It's very easy to get caught in all the stories, pictures and lives that you encounter when you reveal your past.
Let me help you start YOUR journey back to Sweden!
